# How do I check an Ahpra registered aesthetic practitioner in Melbourne?

Before booking an aesthetic appointment, it is reasonable to ask who you will see, whether they are registered, and how the clinic approaches suitability and consent. Ahpra registration is an important starting point, but it is not a guarantee of a particular outcome or a substitute for a proper consultation. At Core Aesthetics, the consultation is where your concerns, health history, suitability, risks, limitations and alternatives are discussed before any decision is made.

What does Ahpra registration mean?

Ahpra is the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. It supports the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for registered health practitioners, including doctors and nurses. Registration allows the public to check whether a practitioner is currently registered and whether any public conditions or endorsements appear on the register.

Registration is a baseline requirement, not a marketing claim. It does not by itself tell you how a practitioner communicates, whether a proposed option is suitable for you, or whether treatment should proceed. Those questions require an individual clinical assessment.

How can I check a practitioner’s registration?

Ask for the practitioner’s full name and registered profession. Use the Ahpra register at ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registers-of-Practitioners to search the name and check that the registration is current. Read any public conditions or endorsements carefully. If the name or registration details cannot be provided clearly, pause and ask for an explanation before booking treatment.
