# Not Sure Where To Start? Preparing For An Aesthetic Consultation

Most people arrive at the clinic with an idea of the changes they have noticed. Some know the technical names of the treatments they would like to discuss; others do not. Either is perfectly normal. If you are unsure where to start, explore the options below and choose the one that feels most relevant. If you would like, use our prompts to make notes in your own words so you can remember what you want to discuss during your consultation.

Quick summary

You do not need to choose a treatment before an aesthetic consultation. Use this page to find the right information, prepare private notes and questions, or identify when a concern needs a different or more urgent pathway.

## Which Kind Of Help Do You Need Today?

Choose the sentence that feels closest to where you are now. If you are looking for what we help with, use the concerns route. Each option leads to a focused page, while the deeper treatment and suburb network remains available through the hub pages.

### [I am not sure where to start](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/start-here/#prepare-notes>)

Put the concern into your own words and build a short note without choosing a procedure.

### [I want to understand a concern](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/aesthetic-treatments-melbourne/>)

Browse the main concern and treatment-information hub without assuming any option is suitable.

### [I am researching risks](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/patient-safety-aesthetic-consultation/>)

Read how safety, practitioner scope, consent, advertising and review should shape a decision.

### [I am planning my first consultation](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/what-to-expect-at-aesthetic-consultation/>)

See what to bring, what Corey assesses and why an appointment can have more than one outcome.

### [I need help after previous treatment](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/aesthetic-treatment-complications-what-to-do/>)

Use the concern and complication pathway. Do not wait for a cosmetic appointment if you need urgent medical help.

### [I am ready to book a consultation](<https://book.squareup.com/appointments/nu2mqyuc7wzqbh/location/LGKEWSFZS6R8E/services>)

Open the live booking list to choose an appointment and see current availability.

Blank paper can help someone start with the concern, health details and questions without choosing a treatment first. Educational consultation illustration only.

## Why Start With A Question Instead Of A Treatment Name?

Most people arrive already noticing something, without knowing what it is called, whether it needs treating or which question to ask first. That is a normal place to begin.

This page will not turn your notes into a diagnosis or treatment plan. It can help you ask a clearer question, see which information is still missing and decide whether consultation, another care pathway or more time makes sense. Leaving with information only is a valid outcome.

## How Can You Build Private Consultation Notes?

Private note builder

### Bring the details you do not want to forget.

Your answers stay in this browser tab while you build. This website does not save or send them. For privacy, the page removes the notes after 15 minutes without activity and when you leave or reload it. Your browser or device may still retain form state depending on its settings. If you open the blank-recipient email draft and address it only to yourself, Corey and Core Aesthetics do not receive or store a copy. Your device or email provider may keep or synchronise the draft or sent message.

**The private note builder is loading.**

If the fields remain unavailable, refresh the page or use the preparation list below. Nothing entered here has been sent to Core Aesthetics.

**Use the preparation list instead**

1. Describe what you have noticed in your own words.

1. Write when it began and how it has changed.

1. Bring your medicines, allergies and relevant health history.

1. Bring previous treatment dates or records if available.

1. Note travel, events and access to review.

1. Write the risks, alternatives and questions you want explained.

01 What have you noticed or what would you like to understand?

Use your own words. You do not need to name a treatment.

02 When did you first notice it, and has it changed?

Include whether it is constant, gradual, recent or different on some days.

03 What health information should you bring?

Note medicines, allergies, health conditions, recent illness, pregnancy or breastfeeding context, or anything you want Corey to review.

04 Have you had relevant treatment or care before?

Add approximate dates, the treating clinic or practitioner, records you have, and what you want clarified.

05 Is there practical timing Corey should know about?

Upcoming travel
An event or work commitment
Limited access to follow-up or review
No timing pressure

Anything else about dates, recovery time or review access?

06 What do you want the appointment to make clearer?

What may be contributing
Risks, limits and alternatives
What happens if I wait
Privacy, access or communication support

Add your own questions.

Nothing has been sent to Core Aesthetics. Notes are removed after 15 minutes without activity or when you leave or reload this page.

A short private note can help turn a broad concern into useful questions for consultation.

## What Is Useful To Bring?

You do not need a perfect file. Bring what you can verify and say when something is uncertain. Accurate gaps are more useful than guessed product names, doses or dates.

<table> <thead> <tr> <th>Bring or note</th> <th>Why it helps</th> <th>If you do not have it</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Medicine and allergy list</td> <td>Health context can affect risk, timing and what can safely be discussed.</td> <td>Ask your pharmacist or usual clinician for an up-to-date list.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Relevant health history</td> <td>Recent illness, procedures and ongoing conditions may change the next step.</td> <td>Write the key points you remember and flag what needs checking.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Previous treatment details</td> <td>Dates, records and the treating practitioner can help make review more informed.</td> <td>Bring photographs or correspondence and clearly mark details you do not know.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Photos of a changing concern</td> <td>A photo can show something that is not visible on the day.</td> <td>Describe when it appears and what seems to change it.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Timing and follow-up constraints</td> <td>Travel, events and access to review can affect whether waiting is more sensible.</td> <td>Tell Corey if your dates are uncertain or flexible.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Your questions</td> <td>Written questions make it easier to cover what matters before any decision.</td> <td>Use the note builder above or bring a short list on your phone.</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

### If You Need Medical Help Now

This page and its note builder are not an urgent-care service. If you think you or someone with you is having a medical emergency, call [triple zero (000)](<tel:000>) and ask for an ambulance. For health advice in Victoria when the situation is not an emergency, [NURSE-ON-CALL](<https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/nurse-on-call>) is available on [1300 60 60 24](<tel:1300606024>). If you are concerned after previous cosmetic treatment, contact the treating practitioner and read the [complication next-step guide](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/aesthetic-treatment-complications-what-to-do/>).

## What Can A Useful Consultation Give You?

A consultation should help you understand the reasoning, not simply move you toward a booking. You can ask Corey what he is assessing, what remains uncertain, which risks matter in your circumstances and what alternatives deserve consideration.

Sometimes the useful next step is more information, a record from a previous clinic, a review with a dentist or doctor, time for skin or health circumstances to settle, or a focused review plan. Sometimes a suitable option can be planned after assessment and consent. The value of the appointment is that the next step has context.

If you feel nervous, have needle anxiety, want a support person, need more privacy or prefer information explained in a particular way, mention that when you contact the clinic. Those details help make the conversation easier to use.

## Corey’s Notes For A Better First Conversation

### Write The Sentence You Would Say Out Loud

**Corey Anderson RN:** Describe the concern in the words you’d naturally use, then add when you noticed it, when it shows up, and what you want the appointment to clarify. I can work perfectly well with ordinary sentences. ‘This looks different in the morning.’ ‘I’m not sure anything needs doing.’ Either of those gives me more useful context than a polished label copied off a service menu, because it describes how you actually experience the change.

### An Honest Gap Is Safer Than A Guess

**Corey Anderson RN:** If you can’t remember a date, a clinic, a practitioner or some detail from previous care, I’d much rather see the gap marked honestly than filled with a guess. Note what you know, what you’re unsure about, and which record might turn up later. I can then tell you whether the missing information matters before any decision gets made. Preparation isn’t a memory test. It helps me separate reliable information from something that still needs checking.

### Tell Me What Would Make The Appointment Easier

**Corey Anderson RN:** Tell me beforehand if anxiety, privacy, communication, mobility, a support person or simply more time would affect how you use the appointment. None of it decides suitability. All of it shapes how well information gets shared and understood. I want you able to ask me to repeat something, to pause the discussion, or to say what matters without feeling rushed. Practical needs belong beside the appearance question, because both affect whether a decision can genuinely be informed.

### General Information Only

This guide is for adults preparing for an aesthetic consultation. It does not diagnose a concern, assess urgency, decide suitability or replace advice from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. The preparation tool formats only the words you enter and makes no clinical decision. Core Aesthetics does not receive them while you build the note. The optional self-email draft leaves the recipient blank and is not sent until you address it and choose Send in your email app.

## Frequently asked questions

**Do I need to know which treatment I want before I book?**

No. You can begin with what you have noticed, what has changed, what bothers you or what you want to understand. A consultation is the place to explore whether a cosmetic pathway is relevant. You do not need to select a procedure or arrive committed to treatment.

**Does the consultation preparation tool tell me what treatment I need?**

No. The tool only organises the words you enter into a printable note. It does not diagnose a concern, assess urgency, decide suitability, compare procedures or recommend treatment. Those questions require an individual clinical assessment with an appropriately qualified practitioner.

**Does the note builder send my answers to Core Aesthetics?**

No. The note builder works in the browser and has no website submission endpoint or browser-storage feature. Its controls remain disabled unless the on-device script loads, and the fields have no submission names. The page removes notes after 15 minutes without activity and when you leave or reload it. Email Myself opens a draft with the To field blank. Address it only to yourself if you do not want Core Aesthetics to receive it. Your browser, device or email provider may still retain form state, a draft or a sent copy according to its settings.

**What should I bring to an aesthetic consultation?**

Bring an up-to-date medicine and allergy list, relevant health information, dates or records from previous cosmetic treatment if available, and photographs if a concern changes over time. It also helps to note travel, events, recovery constraints and the questions you do not want to forget.

**Can I bring a support person or ask for communication support?**

You can ask the clinic about bringing a support person, privacy preferences, accessibility needs or communication support before the appointment. Mentioning these needs early gives the clinic an opportunity to explain what can be arranged and how consent and confidentiality will be handled.

**Can I use a consultation only to ask questions?**

Yes. You are welcome to use the appointment to describe a concern, understand the assessment, discuss risks and alternatives, or decide what information you still need. The appointment turns your questions into suitable options, timing and a clear next step.

**What should I do if I am worried after a previous treatment?**

Contact the practitioner or clinic that treated you and explain what has changed and when. If you think the situation is a medical emergency, call triple zero (000). The Core Aesthetics complication guide provides general next-step information but cannot replace urgent medical care or an individual review.

**Where is Core Aesthetics and who conducts the consultation?**
