## Summary

Build a dated under eye previous care record, identify urgent symptoms and choose original clinic review, independent assessment or medical care.

## Page Content

Quick summary

If an under eye concern began after previous care, do not start with another treatment choice. First decide whether symptoms require urgent help, contact the original clinic, request the complete record and build a dated account of what changed. Corey Anderson RN can provide an independent assessment when appropriate, but may recommend emergency care, eye or medical review, coordination with the original practitioner, observation, referral or no further cosmetic care.

## Run The Safety Check Before Taking Photographs

New vision change, severe eye pain, marked light sensitivity, sudden significant swelling, difficulty moving an eye, new eyelid droop, spreading skin colour change or neurological symptoms should not wait for a routine cosmetic appointment. Seek urgent medical assessment. Call emergency services for an emergency.

Healthdirect advises prompt medical or optometry review for vision changes and for pain, tenderness, swelling or redness around the eye. If symptoms began during or shortly after facial care, tell the health service what happened and when.

## Choose One Of Three Escalation Lanes

Lane
Examples
Action

Urgent now
New vision change, severe eye pain, marked light sensitivity, sudden weakness, rapidly worsening swelling or serious systemic symptoms.
Urgent medical or emergency assessment. Do not wait for online advice.

Prompt practitioner contact
Increasing redness, heat, tenderness, discharge, worsening swelling, new colour change, a new lump or a change that is progressing.
Contact the original treating clinic promptly and follow its escalation instructions; seek medical care if advised or if symptoms are concerning.

Scheduled evidence review
Stable puffiness, contour difference, asymmetry or dissatisfaction without urgent symptoms.
Gather records and arrange review. Avoid adding new care before the situation is understood.

The lane can change. A stable concern that develops pain, redness, vision symptoms or rapid progression needs reassessment.

A genuine review demonstration. One dated image is useful only when its lighting, viewpoint, symptoms and place in the wider timeline are understood.

## Build The Seven Field Case File

- Baseline: what the area looked and felt like before care.

- Date and time: when care occurred.

- Clinic and practitioner: who provided and prescribed the care, where relevant.

- Record: consent material, treatment notes, exact item used, amount, sites and aftercare instructions where available.

- First change: what appeared and how soon.

- Progression: improving, stable, fluctuating or worsening.

- Current symptoms: appearance, sensation, eye function and general health.

Keep private medical details out of public reviews and social posts. Share them directly with the clinicians coordinating care.

## Plot Four Timepoints, Even If Some Are Approximate

Timepoint
Evidence to attach

T0: before care
Original consultation photographs, ordinary personal photographs and the stated concern.

T1: immediately after
Clinic photographs, symptoms and instructions received.

T2: first meaningful change
Date, photograph, sensation, side and whether the original clinic was contacted.

T3: today
Current appearance, symptoms, trend and any care received since.

Do not invent precision. “About two weeks later” is more reliable than a date guessed from memory. Messages, receipts, calendar entries and image metadata can help reconstruct the sequence.

## Make Photographs Comparable, Not Dramatic

Use soft front light, a second gentle side light, the same camera distance and a neutral expression. Include both eyes and enough of the cheeks to show context. Turn off filters, portrait blur and automatic retouching.

A close crop can exaggerate texture and remove the facial landmarks needed for comparison. One alarming photograph can also misrepresent a fluctuating concern. Preserve the original files and record the time of day if puffiness varies.

A genuine clinic discussion. Treatment records, consent information and follow up instructions can materially change how a later concern is interpreted.

## Ask The Original Clinic For The Complete Record

Request the consultation and consent record, clinical photographs, treatment notes, aftercare advice, prescribing information where relevant, communications about the concern and the clinic’s proposed review plan. Do not rely on a receipt or a remembered item name alone.

Current Ahpra guidance assigns follow up responsibilities to the practitioner who performed the procedure and, where prescribing was involved, to the prescriber. When a complication requires hospital admission, the responsible practitioner must coordinate care until another nominated practitioner or hospital assumes management.

## Why Is The Original Clinic Usually The First Call?

The original clinic should know what was done, when it was done and what follow up was planned. It may also have baseline photographs and records that an independent practitioner cannot recreate. Contacting it does not prevent you seeking a second opinion.

Bypass a routine callback when symptoms are urgent, you cannot reach the clinic, the advice does not match the seriousness of the symptoms or you do not feel safe returning. Urgent health care takes priority over continuity etiquette.

## Do Not Stack Another Intervention Onto Missing Information

Adding care before the earlier treatment, timing and tissue response are understood can obscure the clinical picture. Do not massage, press, apply devices, use borrowed medicines or attempt a home correction unless an appropriately qualified clinician who knows the case has specifically advised it.

Waiting is not neglect when the concern is stable and active earlier care may still be evolving. The reason for waiting, the review date and the warning signs that should change the plan should be made explicit.

## Five Responsible Outcomes From A Correction Assessment

Assessment outcome
What it means

Return to the original clinic
Continuity and complete records make that the safest first route.

Observe with a defined review date
The concern is stable and more time or evidence is needed.

Independent cosmetic assessment
The issue is within scope, records are sufficient and private discussion of limits and risks is appropriate.

Medical, dermatology or eye referral
Symptoms, examination or uncertainty require a diagnostic pathway outside cosmetic scope.

No further cosmetic care
Additional intervention would not offer a reasonable balance of likely benefit, uncertainty and risk.

## Why Can A Concern Appear Long After Earlier Care?

Published reviews describe both early and delayed periorbital concerns, including persistent or later swelling, contour change, colour change and nodules. The evidence includes case reports and case series, so it cannot predict what has happened to one person.

A delayed presentation is one reason records matter. The relevant question is not simply “how do I reverse this?” but “what was done, what else could explain the change, and who is best placed to assess it?”

## What Does Corey Review In Oakleigh?

Corey reviews the seven field case file before discussing any possible next step. The assessment compares both sides, front and side light, rest and ordinary movement, the eyelid to cheek junction and the wider midface. Symptoms, skin condition and eye function remain separate from appearance dissatisfaction.

Suitability for any further cosmetic care cannot be decided until the prior event, current findings, records, alternatives and individual risks are understood. Corey may instead direct you back to the original clinic, request further records or recommend assessment by a GP, optometrist, ophthalmologist, dermatologist or another practitioner.

A genuine assessment demonstration. Examination adds context about location, symmetry, movement and tissue behaviour; it does not replace records or medical review when symptoms are present.

## How Is This Different From The Crepey Skin Guide?

Use the [crepey under eye skin guide](/under-eye-crepey-skin-treatment-options/) when no previous care drives the concern and the task is to separate surface texture, shadow, variable swelling and symptoms.

Stay on this page when a change followed earlier care. Its focus is chronology, records, original clinic coordination and escalation. The distinction is the event history, not merely the location beneath the eyes.

## What Are The Limits Of “Correction”?

Correction is not one procedure and does not mean restoring an exact earlier appearance. The cause may be uncertain, earlier material or medicine may still be active, tissue may have changed and another intervention can introduce new risks. Some concerns improve with time; some require specialist care; some should not receive further cosmetic treatment.

A responsible consent discussion must address uncertainty, alternatives, material risks, costs, aftercare, review access and what happens if the chosen plan does not produce the hoped for change. Care on the consultation day is not automatic.

## Verify The Practitioner Before Sharing Records

Core Aesthetics operates in Oakleigh. Corey Anderson is listed as a Registered Nurse with Ahpra registration NMW0001047575. Check the [clinic verification page](/verify/) and the Ahpra public register before booking or sharing health information.

This page is general information for adults. It is not personal medical advice, urgent care or a recommendation for a corrective procedure.

### The Correction Rule

Symptoms set the urgency. Records set the context. Examination sets the next question. None of those steps should be replaced by choosing another intervention from a photograph.

## Is this for you?

### Consider booking a consultation if

- Adults with a stable under eye concern that began after previous cosmetic care

- People willing to obtain records and contact the original clinic where appropriate

- Patients seeking independent assessment rather than a predetermined corrective procedure

- People prepared for observation, referral or no further cosmetic care

### This may not be for you if

- Anyone with new vision change, severe eye pain, marked light sensitivity, rapid progression or other urgent symptoms

- People seeking home correction instructions or a procedure based on photographs

- Anyone unwilling to disclose relevant previous care or provide informed consent

- People expecting an exact restoration or automatic care on the consultation day

Suitability is confirmed at consultation. This list is general guidance, not a substitute for clinical assessment.

## Frequently asked questions

What should I do first if my vision changes after facial treatment?

Seek urgent medical assessment. New vision change, severe eye pain, marked light sensitivity, difficulty moving an eye or other serious neurological symptoms should not wait for a routine cosmetic review. Call emergency services for an emergency.

Should I contact the original clinic?

Usually yes, because it should hold the baseline photographs, consent record, treatment notes and follow up plan. Urgent medical care takes priority if symptoms are serious, the clinic cannot be reached or you do not feel safe returning.

Which records should I request?

Request consultation notes, consent information, clinical photographs, the treatment record, exact item and amount used where relevant, sites, aftercare advice, prescribing information and communications about the concern.

How do I build a useful timeline?

Record the baseline, date of care, immediate state, first meaningful change and current state. Add symptoms, photographs, messages and whether the pattern is improving, stable, fluctuating or worsening. Approximate dates should be labelled as approximate.

Can I massage or correct the area myself?

Do not massage, press, use a device, borrow medicine or attempt a home correction unless an appropriately qualified clinician who knows the case has specifically advised it. Self treatment can obscure the picture or add harm.

Why might Corey recommend waiting?

The earlier care may still be evolving, the concern may be stable, records may be incomplete or more time may be needed to distinguish temporary change from a persistent issue. Waiting should include a review date and warning signs that alter the plan.

Can under eye concerns appear much later?

Published literature includes delayed swelling, contour changes, colour changes and nodules after some forms of previous care. A delayed change still requires individual assessment because other eye, skin and health causes may exist.

Does an independent assessment mean Corey will intervene?

No. The outcome may be coordination with the original clinic, observation, record retrieval, medical or eye referral, another specialist opinion or no further cosmetic care. Care on the consultation day is not automatic.

How is this different from the crepey under eye skin page?

The crepey skin page sorts surface texture, shadow, swelling and symptoms when previous care is not the main event. This page begins with a change after earlier care and focuses on chronology, records and escalation.

Can correction restore my exact previous appearance?

An exact earlier appearance cannot be assumed. Cause, timing, tissue response and the nature of earlier care all affect what is possible. Consent should address uncertainty, limits, alternatives, material risks and the option of no further treatment.
