# What Happens At An Upper Lip Movement Consultation?

If your upper lip looks or feels different at rest, during speech or when smiling, this appointment helps define the concern before any option is considered. You do not need to choose a procedure or arrive with a diagnosis.

Quick summary

An upper lip movement consultation is a structured appointment with Corey Anderson RN. It begins with what you notice and what you want to preserve, then considers the upper lip at rest, during speech and across natural expressions. Relevant health, dental and previous cosmetic history, everyday lip function, expectations and consent are reviewed before Corey explains the reasonable next steps. Suitability for any next step is assessed individually. The appointment may lead to further observation, referral, review, a private option discussion or no cosmetic intervention.

## What Is This Consultation For?

This consultation is for adults who notice that the upper lip looks or feels different between rest, speech and smiling. The purpose is to identify the clinical question, not to confirm an online label or reserve a particular procedure.

You can begin with one plain sentence, such as “I am comfortable with how my lips look when relaxed, but I notice a difference when I smile.” Corey will ask when the difference appears, how long you have noticed it, whether it affects everyday function and which features you want to preserve.

## How Do You Prepare Before The Visit?

Bring a current list of medicines and supplements, relevant allergies and health conditions, recent dental information and any previous cosmetic records that may affect the assessment. Dates, clinic details and photographs from before a recent change can be useful when available.

You may also bring an ordinary, unfiltered photograph or short video if the movement is difficult to reproduce. These materials provide context but do not replace assessment in person.

## How Does The Conversation Begin?

The appointment begins with your description rather than a treatment menu. Corey asks what you notice, when it appears, whether it has changed and what a satisfactory consultation would help you understand.

Equal attention is given to what you want to preserve. Natural expression, speech, lip closure and personal identity may be more important than changing one isolated feature. Clarifying those priorities gives the assessment a practical boundary.

## Discuss What You Have Noticed

Tell Corey what you have noticed, when it matters and what you want to preserve. He will guide the assessment and explain suitable next steps.

![Two adults discussing facial concerns with a hand mirror during a consultation.](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/core-aesthetics-male-lip-proportion-planning.webp>)

A neutral profile view can add context without implying that any feature needs to change.

## What Is Observed During The Appointment?

Corey may compare the upper lip while the mouth is relaxed, during ordinary speech, with gentle smiling and with a fuller natural smile. He may also observe comfortable lip closure and other everyday movements when they relate to the concern.

- Whether the difference is present at rest or mainly during expression.

- Upper and lower lip relationship and visible asymmetry.

- Tooth and gum display in different expressions.

- Comfort with speaking, drinking and lip closure.

- Whether the concern appears to extend beyond the upper lip.

## Why Do Health, Dental And Previous History Matter?

Upper lip appearance and function cannot be considered separately from relevant health, oral and dental context. Recent dental work, an active cold sore or skin issue, unexplained altered movement, pregnancy or breastfeeding, medicines and previous cosmetic procedures can change what information or review is needed.

Corey will explain why a detail matters in your circumstances. Where information is incomplete, the next step may be to obtain records, allow a recent change to settle or seek advice from another appropriate clinician.

## How Are Clinical Photographs Handled?

Clinical photographs may be recommended to document the relaxed mouth and selected expressions consistently. Corey should explain why the images are useful, how they will form part of the clinical record and how privacy is protected before they are taken.

Clinical consent does not automatically authorise public or promotional use. Any separate use requires separate, informed permission and must meet applicable advertising and privacy requirements.

![Front view of an adult gently pursing the lips.](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/core-aesthetics-upper-lip-line-consultation-front-43.png.webp>)

A consistent front view helps document the observation without predicting an outcome.

## How Are Limits, Risks And Alternatives Discussed?

If an option is clinically relevant, its material risks, limitations, alternatives and follow-up requirements belong in a private discussion after individual assessment. The explanation should connect those considerations to the movements and activities that matter in your daily life.

Consent is a decision process, not a signature alone. You should have an opportunity to ask questions, understand uncertainty, consider another clinical opinion and decide whether you want more time.

Consultation first

## Review Your Questions And Options

Your appointment can include assessment, answers and discussion of suitable care when clinically appropriate. You can also take more time before deciding.

## What Outcomes Can Follow The Consultation?

A useful consultation does not depend on proceeding with an intervention. Possible outcomes include a clearer description of the concern, further observation, obtaining previous records, dental or medical review, a later reassessment, a private discussion of clinically appropriate options or a decision not to make a cosmetic change.

Corey should explain the reason for the recommended next step and what would need to change before the question is reconsidered.

## Can Anything Be Arranged On The Day?

Booking this consultation does not mean that an intervention will occur. If the assessment is complete, an option is clinically appropriate, material information has been discussed and informed consent is valid, proceeding on the day may be considered.

You may also choose a later appointment or decide not to proceed. Timing should reflect clinical judgement and your decision, not an expectation created by the booking.

![Natural side smile used to observe upper lip, tooth and gum relationships](<https://coreaesthetics.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/core-aesthetics-gummy-smile-consultation-side-41.png.webp>)

A natural expression provides assessment context without implying that change is required.

## What Should You Leave Knowing?

Before leaving, you should understand what Corey observed, what remains uncertain, which health or functional factors matter, whether another clinician should be involved, the reasonable next steps and what follow-up would involve.

Ask for clarification if the explanation still depends on a treatment label rather than the feature you notice. A good consultation should leave you better informed even when no cosmetic intervention is planned.

## Frequently asked questions

**Do I need to choose a procedure before booking?**

No. The appointment begins with what you notice at rest, during speech or when smiling. Corey assesses the concern before any option is discussed. Arriving without a treatment label helps keep the conversation centred on your features, function, health context and priorities.

**What should I bring?**

Bring current medicines and supplements, allergies, relevant health and dental history, previous cosmetic records where available and any timing constraints. An ordinary photograph or short video may help when the difference is intermittent, but it does not replace assessment.

**Why are rest, speech and smiling all observed?**

A still view cannot show whether the concern is constant or appears mainly during expression. Comparing several ordinary states helps Corey describe the pattern, consider function and decide whether the question belongs within cosmetic scope or needs a broader assessment.

**Will clinical photographs be taken?**

They may be recommended when consistent views would help document the assessment. Corey should explain their clinical purpose, storage and privacy before taking them. Public or promotional use requires separate permission and is not implied by consenting to a clinical record.

**Should I mention recent dental work?**

Yes. Recent or planned dental work, oral symptoms and changes in tooth or gum display can affect timing or indicate that dental input is more useful. Include this information even if you are unsure whether it relates to the upper lip concern.

**Can Corey review a change after previous cosmetic procedures?**

Yes, provided the appointment is appropriate for routine assessment. Bring dates, records and photographs where available. New, severe or rapidly changing symptoms require timely medical assessment rather than relying on a routine cosmetic consultation.

**Can I bring a support person?**

A support person may help you remember information or feel comfortable, subject to clinic arrangements and your consent. They should support your decision rather than answer for you or pressure you toward a particular outcome.

**Can an option be discussed at the appointment?**

Yes, after Corey has completed an individual assessment. Any discussion must be private, clinically relevant and include material risks, alternatives, limitations and consent. A public page cannot predict which option, if any, will be appropriate.

**Does booking mean something will happen on the day?**

No. Proceeding may be considered only when assessment, clinical appropriateness and informed consent are complete. You may take more time, arrange a later review, seek another opinion or decide not to proceed.

**How can I verify Corey Anderson before attending?**

Use the Core Aesthetics verification page and the Ahpra public register. Corey Anderson is a Registered Nurse with Ahpra registration NMW0001047575. The clinic address and contact details should also match the information shown on the booking confirmation.
