Crows feet treatment at Core Aesthetics uses prescription anti-wrinkle injectable product to temporarily reduce the contraction intensity of the orbicularis oculi muscle at the outer corners of the eyes, softening the lines that fan out during expression. Treatment is conservatively dosed to maintain a natural-looking smile.

Crows feet are the fine lines that fan from the outer corners of the eyes with smiling and squinting. They are often among the first expression lines to become consistently noticeable, partly because the skin around the eyes is among the thinnest on the face and has relatively little of the sebaceous activity that helps maintain skin resilience elsewhere.

At Core Aesthetics in Oakleigh, crows feet treatment is assessed by Corey Anderson, AHPRA registered nurse (NMW0001047575), as part of a full facial consultation. The goal is always to soften lines while maintaining a natural, expressive appearance.

What Causes Crows Feet?

Crows feet are caused by the repeated contraction of the orbicularis oculi, the circular muscle that surrounds the eye and controls blinking, squinting and the muscular component of smiling. Every smile and squint contracts this muscle, folding the thin skin at the outer corners of the eye into a characteristic fan shape. Over years of repetition, these folds become progressively deeper and eventually visible even at rest.

Sun exposure significantly accelerates this process. UV damage reduces the skin’s elastin and collagen content, making the skin less able to recover from the repeated folding created by muscle movement. This is one of the reasons consistent sun protection is one of the most evidence-supported measures for slowing the development of expression lines over the long term.

How Crows Feet Treatment Works

Crows feet treatment uses a prescription injectable product to temporarily reduce the contraction intensity of the orbicularis oculi at the lateral corners of the eye. When the muscle contracts with less force in this area, the skin folds less deeply, softening the appearance of the fan lines during expression and, where lines are visible at rest, reducing their depth.

Treatment of this area is precise. The placement needs to account for the relationship between the orbicularis oculi and the muscles responsible for brow position, as well as the boundary below the eye where treatment should not extend. At Core Aesthetics, placement is always based on your individual anatomy assessed during the consultation. A note specific to this treatment area: some movement at the outer eye with smiling is natural and expected. A completely immobile outer eye with expression can look unnatural. The goal is softening, not freezing.

How Crows Feet Relates to Other Upper Face Treatments

For many clients, crows feet treatment is considered alongside forehead lines and frown lines as part of an upper face plan. The orbicularis oculi wraps around the entire eye and also creates fine lines in the lower eyelid area with squinting, which your practitioner will assess in context during your consultation. Frequently Asked Questions

Will crows feet treatment affect my smile?

A conservative and well-planned treatment should not affect your smile. The target is the orbicularis oculi at the outer corners of the eye, not the muscles responsible for smiling.

How long does crows feet treatment last?

Duration varies between individuals. The eye area is highly expressive which can influence longevity. Your practitioner will discuss realistic timeframes during your consultation.

Is there downtime after crows feet treatment?

Most clients can resume normal activities immediately. Minor redness is possible but usually resolves quickly.
