Frown line treatment uses a prescription injectable product to temporarily reduce activity in the muscles responsible for the vertical creases between the brows. At Core Aesthetics in Oakleigh, treatment is individually assessed and planned in the context of your full upper face anatomy.

Frown lines are the vertical creases that form between the eyebrows, often called the elevens due to their appearance as two parallel lines. They develop from repeated contraction of the muscles responsible for pulling the brows together, such as during concentration, concern or squinting.

At Core Aesthetics in Oakleigh, all anti-wrinkle treatment is individually assessed before any recommendation is made. Treatment is only discussed and administered where it is clinically appropriate following a consultation with Corey.

Why Frown Lines Develop

The frown lines are primarily created by two muscles: the corrugator supercilii, which pulls the brows toward the centre, and the procerus, which pulls the brow tissue downward. Together these muscles create the downward and inward brow movement associated with frowning, concentration and squinting.

Repeated contraction over years scores a vertical crease into the skin between the brows. As skin elasticity diminishes with age, this crease persists even when the face is at rest, creating a resting expression that can read as stern, tired or concerned regardless of actual emotional state.

What the Treatment Involves

Anti-wrinkle treatment for frown lines uses a prescription injectable product to temporarily reduce the activity of the corrugator and procerus muscles. When these muscles contract less, the skin above them creases less, and the appearance of the vertical lines between the brows is softened.

Frown line treatment is one of the more straightforward anti-wrinkle procedures when assessed properly. It tends to produce predictable results in suitable candidates and is often the area where clients first notice the difference between a result that looks refreshed and one that maintains natural expression.

Who May Be Suitable?

Treatment for frown lines may be worth exploring at a consultation if you:

  • Notice vertical lines between the brows that are visible at rest
  • Feel the area creates a resting expression that looks stern or tired
  • Are looking for a result that softens the area without affecting surrounding expression
  • Are in good general health with no contraindications to injectable prescription products

Suitability is always assessed individually. Your practitioner will give you an honest view of what treatment can achieve for your specific situation.

Frown line treatment is often discussed alongside forehead line treatment. The two areas are anatomically related. The muscles that create frown lines and those that create forehead lines interact in the upper face. Treating frown lines without considering forehead movement, or vice versa, can create imbalance in the upper face. At Core Aesthetics, upper face treatment is assessed as a coordinated whole.

What to Expect at Your Consultation

Corey will assess your muscle movement, the depth and distribution of your lines, your facial proportions and your goals. You will receive an honest recommendation and have time to ask questions without any pressure to proceed. Read more about what happens at a cosmetic consultation.

How This Treatment Fits Into a Broader Plan

Anti-wrinkle treatment addresses expression lines through muscle activity. It does not add volume or address volume related concerns. For some clients, combining anti-wrinkle treatment with dermal filler produces the most balanced result. Where this is relevant to your goals it will be discussed during your consultation. Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly do frown line results appear?

Anti-wrinkle treatment typically begins to take effect within a few days, with the full result visible at around two weeks. Your practitioner will advise you on what to expect during the settling period.

Can frown line treatment affect my ability to raise my brows?

Frown line treatment targets the muscles that pull the brows inward and downward. When planned carefully it should not affect the frontalis, which lifts the brows. Your practitioner will assess your muscle anatomy during your consultation to ensure treatment is targeted appropriately.

Will frown lines come back after treatment?

The effect of anti-wrinkle treatment is temporary. As muscle activity gradually returns, lines may reappear over time. Regular treatment can help maintain the result and, for some clients, may slow the deepening of established lines over time.

How long does frown line treatment last?

Duration varies between individuals and depends on the dose used and your metabolism. Your practitioner will discuss realistic timeframes during your consultation.

Can frown lines be treated with filler instead?

For deeply established frown lines that persist at rest even without muscle movement, filler may be discussed as part of the treatment plan alongside anti-wrinkle treatment. Your practitioner will assess this during your consultation.
