A preventative aesthetic consultation at Core Aesthetics discusses whether early injectable treatment is appropriate for your individual face, how preventative treatment differs from correction, and what a considered long term plan looks like. Corey Anderson assesses your facial anatomy and muscle activity before any recommendation is made.

Preventative aesthetics is an approach to cosmetic injectable treatment that begins before concerns become well established, with the goal of slowing the progression of age related changes rather than correcting them after the fact. It is a clinically legitimate strategy for some clients, but it is also a concept that gets oversimplified in public discourse. A good preventative aesthetic consultation separates what is genuinely evidence informed from what is marketing.

All preventative aesthetic consultations at Core Aesthetics are conducted by Corey Anderson, AHPRA registered nurse (NMW0001047575, registered since January 1996), the sole treating practitioner at the clinic.

The Rationale for Preventative Anti Wrinkle Treatment

The theoretical basis for preventative anti wrinkle treatment is straightforward. Dynamic wrinkles are created by repeated muscular contraction folding the overlying skin. Over years of repetition, and as skin loses its elasticity with age, these folds deepen progressively until they become permanently visible at rest. Reducing muscular activity earlier may slow this deepening process.

In practice, whether preventative treatment is clinically meaningful for an individual depends on the strength of their muscle activity and the rate at which their lines are progressing. For clients with highly active upper face muscles who are already noticing persistent crease marks after expression in their mid to late twenties, early conservative treatment of the relevant areas can be a sensible approach. For clients whose lines are mild and slowly progressing, the benefit of beginning early treatment may be less clear cut. Corey will give you an honest assessment of which scenario applies to you.

What a Preventative Plan Looks Like

A preventative aesthetic plan at Core Aesthetics is conservative by definition. The goal is not to address every conceivable future concern right now. It is to identify the one or two areas where early, low dose treatment would produce the most meaningful benefit and manage them sensibly over time.

For most clients considering preventative treatment, the most relevant areas are in the upper face: forehead, frown lines and crows feet. In some cases, conservative mid face volume support with a small amount of dermal filler may also be discussed where early volume changes are beginning to show. This is assessed individually.

Anti wrinkle treatment in the context of a preventative plan is typically lighter in dose than corrective treatment. The goal is reduction of muscle activity, not elimination of it. Natural movement is preserved throughout.

Preventative Treatment Does Not Mean Ongoing Commitment

One of the most important things to understand about preventative aesthetics is that beginning treatment does not create a long term dependency or obligation to continue. The product is temporary. If you choose to stop, muscle activity returns to its previous level and the preventative effect ceases going forward. Whether to continue, and at what frequency, is always your decision based on your goals at each point in time.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should I consider preventative aesthetic treatment?

There is no universally correct answer. Corey will assess your individual muscle activity and tell you honestly whether preventative treatment would be meaningful for your situation.

Does preventative treatment mean I will need treatment forever?

No. Starting preventative treatment creates no long term obligation. The effect is temporary and ceasing treatment simply allows muscle activity to return to baseline.

Is preventative treatment more effective than waiting until lines are established?

There is a clinical rationale for it. Whether it is meaningful for your individual situation depends on your muscle activity patterns and rate of line development.
