Opening Hours

Tuesday - Saturday by Appointment

At Core Aesthetics, your first dermal filler appointment begins with an individual consultation with Corey Anderson, AHPRA registered nurse NMW0001047575. He will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals and recommend a treatment plan. Treatment only proceeds with your fully informed consent.

If you are considering dermal filler for the first time, knowing what to expect at each stage of the process helps you feel prepared and make a considered decision. At Core Aesthetics in Oakleigh, every first filler appointment follows the same process: consultation first, treatment only if appropriate, and clear aftercare guidance before you leave.

Before Your Appointment

In the days before a first filler appointment, there are a few practical steps that help the process go well. Staying well hydrated is beneficial as hydrated tissue responds well and bruising tends to be less significant. Avoiding blood thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen for at least a week before treatment reduces the risk of bruising, where medically appropriate. Avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before the appointment is also recommended.

Arrive with a clean face and no makeup if possible, as Corey will need to assess your skin and facial structure clearly. If you have had previous filler elsewhere, it is helpful to have as much detail as possible about what was placed, when, and by whom.

The Consultation

Every first appointment at Core Aesthetics begins with a thorough individual consultation. Corey Anderson, AHPRA registered nurse (NMW0001047575), will sit with you and discuss your concerns, what you are hoping to address and what you are hoping to achieve. He will ask about your medical history, any previous treatments and any allergies or contraindications.

He will then assess your facial anatomy directly, looking at facial structure, volume distribution, skin quality and the specific areas you have raised. The recommendation he makes is based on this clinical assessment, not on a standard menu of treatments.

You will have time to ask questions. There is no pressure to proceed on the day, and no treatment is performed without your fully informed consent.

During Treatment

If you proceed with treatment, Corey will explain exactly what he is doing at each stage. Filler treatment involves small injections using a fine needle or cannula depending on the area. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or a brief sting. The procedure itself is typically 15 to 30 minutes depending on the areas treated.

It is normal to feel some firmness, mild swelling or tenderness immediately after treatment. Corey will review the result before you leave and discuss what to expect in the following days.

Immediately After Treatment

Some results are visible immediately after treatment. However, the initial appearance is affected by swelling which is a normal response to the treatment. The final result settles over approximately two weeks as swelling resolves and the filler fully integrates.

Avoid vigorous exercise, direct heat such as saunas or hot showers, and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment. Avoid massaging the treated area unless specifically instructed to do so.

The Follow Up

Corey recommends a review appointment approximately two weeks after first time filler treatment. This allows the result to have settled fully before the appointment, gives you an opportunity to raise any questions and allows Corey to assess whether any refinement is appropriate.
