Consultation based Approach: Why Slower Gets Better Results

A thorough clinical assessment before any treatment recommendation takes more time than a walk-in appointment model. That time is where the quality of the outcome is determined.

Quick summary

A consultation-first approach takes longer than a walk-in treatment model because it prioritises individual clinical assessment over speed. Every patient at Core Aesthetics receives a structured assessment with Corey Anderson RN before any treatment recommendation is made.

Is this for you?

Consider booking a consultation if

  • Adults wanting to understand how this clinic approaches aesthetic treatment
  • People preparing for a first or follow-up consultation at Core Aesthetics
  • Patients who want honest, educational information before making a treatment decision
  • Anyone wanting to understand the clinical philosophy and operating model of this practice

This may not be for you if

  • This is an educational page and does not replace a clinical consultation
  • Patients under 18, aesthetic treatment assessment is not available
  • Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, treatment is not available during this period
  • Patients with an active skin infection or condition in the area of concern

Suitability is confirmed at consultation. This list is general guidance, not a substitute for clinical assessment.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a consultation?

A consultation is typically 30–45 minutes. This includes medical history review, facial assessment, treatment discussion, and outcomes planning. The time required varies by complexity of your concerns and the detail of your questions. We do not rush consultations to fit more appointments into a day.

Do I have to commit to treatment if I book a consultation?

No. A consultation is assessment and discussion. At the end, you may decide to move forward with treatment, schedule a follow up, or decline entirely. The outcome of a consultation is clarity and informed decision making, not automatic treatment.

What if I am told I should not have injectables?

This is a possible outcome of a consultation. If assessment reveals that injectables would not address your actual concern, or if your circumstances (age, skin condition, goals, timing) suggest injectables are premature or inappropriate, you will be advised accordingly. You will also receive guidance on alternative approaches that may be better suited to your situation.

How is consultation based different from a dermatologist consult?

Dermatologists assess skin health and disease. A consultation at Core Aesthetics assesses facial anatomy, ageing patterns, and whether injectables are the right tool for your specific goals. There is overlap, skin quality matters, but the focus is different. Many patients benefit from both: dermatology for skin health, cosmetic assessment for injectables.

Can I have a consultation and then decide to go elsewhere?

Yes. You have complete autonomy. A consultation educates you about your face and your options. You can use that information anywhere. We hope you choose Core if it aligns with your philosophy, but the decision is yours.

Is consultation based more expensive?

Not necessarily. Consultation length does not determine treatment cost. What does affect cost is treatment comprehensiveness and sequencing. A consultation may reveal that addressing your concern well requires a phased approach over months or years, rather than maximum product in one appointment. This can mean different overall spending, depending on your timeline and goals.

What if I already know I want volume treatment in a specific area?

You may have a clear sense of what you want. A consultation does not dismiss your preference. It assesses whether your preferred area is the best starting point, whether it should be combined with other areas for balance, and whether the amount and placement will achieve your actual goals. You may confirm your own instinct, or assessment may reveal a better approach.

Is the consultation cost deducted from treatment cost?

No. Consultation and treatment are separate services. The consultation is a clinical assessment and discussion. Treatment is the procedure. Both are valued independently.

How often should I have a consultation before treatment?

Typically once is sufficient. A thorough initial consultation gathers all the information needed to plan treatment. follow up assessments happen after treatment, to refine results or plan next steps, not before initial treatment.

What if I change my mind after a consultation?

That is fine. A consultation is one point in time. Your feelings, goals, circumstances, and confidence may shift. If you want to revisit the discussion, you can rebook a follow up consultation. Or you can decide that injectables are not for you. Both outcomes are supported.

Is it safe to attend a consultation without committing to treatment?

A consultation is an information-gathering appointment. There is no obligation to proceed with treatment, and no treatment should be administered without a separate, clearly agreed decision to do so. The consultation-first approach means assessment always precedes any treatment recommendation.

Why does a thorough cosmetic consultation take more time than a standard appointment?

A consultation for aesthetic treatment needs to cover medical history, current medications, previous treatment history, aesthetic goals, and a detailed clinical assessment of facial anatomy. This takes time to do properly. Assessment quality directly shapes the appropriateness of any subsequent treatment plan.
